ID Conference 2010 was SUPERB! today was the first day, and it was indeed, very good. reminded me what is a life of a christian all about. to be a disciple and to make disciples of all nations. a more firm foundation and clearer idea of what God wants to do in every of our lives. :) watched a movie during one of the teachings, i think its call Bucket List. its a very good and touching movie as well, that brings out disciple making at a very practical level. great movie. thumbs up! :)

looking forward to Day 2 of the ID Conference 2010 because i know that its gonna be even better and even more ministering. God is gonna move and touch lives!

starting work on Monday! and in case you guys want to know where, i am posted to Police Coast Guard as an Assistant Manpower Officer. Harbour Front area. quite far from my house, but i'll just take it. :) my PSP charger gave up on me! heard a sound then the next thing i know, it stopped working. now my PSP cannot be charged. :( any kind soul out there got an extra PSP charger? please contact me! urgent! thanks in advance!

is been 3 weeks since i last blogged! just here to update abit on my life in camp and also different things i learn over the past few weeks!

Juniors came in on Monday, which is 19th April and we are officially Seniors! cool man! prepared their parents visiting day on Friday and it went well. we booked out at around 5pm! thank God! after that, went to catch a movie with my brother and 2 of his friends. love in a puff. its a very funny movie, but not worth every buck if you are watching it in the weekend. but overall, its still good i think! had a great laugh! :D

yupp! so other than Juniors coming in, had Criminal Procedure Code aka CPC examination on Thursday! its a tough subject. ask people who studied this subject before and they can identify. thank God i pass in one attempt! only 4 person fail though. previous batch has more failures and they tell us its e most difficult paper. haha! but anyway, one more paper to go! Basic Staff Work. test date not confirmed yet. but hope it can be over asap and we will reach the end of our 35 weeks course here in Home Team Academy! looking forward to it! maybe a trip overseas when i pass out because i will be having a few days off! :D

joining this season HPL again, but this time the team is not form by me, its formed by Donald and the team name is, given by Lemmuel, HappyFleet FC! .__. dont ask me about the team name man, ask Lem why. haha!!

yupp!! currently reading a book named A Love Worth Giving. a very good book that revolves around the whole idea of love in 1 Cor 13:4-7, which reads;

i'm back to blog after some time! first thing first man.

SEED 2010 camp was superb! i think it brought me back to the basics and let me understand again who i really am in God. the characteristic of a seed, what a seed is meant to be and what are the different kinds of seed. taught me a lot definitely. :) although i missed the last day due to Provost duty. (its not a punishment. everyone has to do it. its just that mine is this particular week ._.) but i heard it was fun with all the dressing up and appreciations!

next up after camp was NS vision night! e second one! and it was, yet again, another event that taught me and bring me back to, what is NS ministry all about and what is the thing we are missing nowadays. a strong proper male figure in the family. the teaching was really good too. :) Be a man and be all you can be in God. :D

after the ns vision night, was another event that many people do not know i suppose. i took part in this soccer card game competition. hahah! ask me for more details! and i came in CHAMPION! wooots~ thank God for allowing this to happen and letting me win! there must be something behind this event that i can learn. :) taking my time to think thru.

life in hta is quite good now. other than PT and lessons, every night can go play basketball! trying to train back my fitness and also want to play at a higher level! so gotta play everyday! heh! 11th May is the date that everyone is waiting for now in my squad. thats the day we are passing out as Inspectors! woohooo~ 2 more exams and we are thru! so hang on everyone! we are almost there! some pictures to share!

alright, i am FINALLY back from the 16 days leadership course in OBS! it was a very very new, fun and self-discovering experience. definitely, there was tough times as well. but like what i said last time, tough times dont last, tough man do.

we did many things in these 16 days in OBS. but the 3 main events was the 3 expeditions - Sailing, Land and Sea. Sailing was a first time experience for me. 3 days 2 nights. we sailed as a Watch (15 people group) and it was definitely very fun! because we are moving from places to places using only wind and paddling sometimes. no using of motor engine at all! the boat is called a Cutter. its something like that. (see below!) this is just a rough idea of how it looks like because i cant find a nice one online and i havent got my obs photos. not going to get it prolly because someone lost the camera. -.- so needa see what i can get from the instructors!

Land expedition was next! 3 days 3 night. it was like navigating and finding checkpoints. for the tekong boys, it was like a stroll in the park because its something like what we have went thru and the heavy load and heat from the sun isnt getting us much because we are able to take it and quite used to it, even in tekong. so it wasnt much of a challenge actually. haha! enjoyed this land expedition except the heavy load. :)

last expedition was the killer. Sea expedition. it was actually kayaking. 4 days 3 nights. first day, we start off at 7.30am, from west side of Pulau Ubin to east side of it, then to changi exhibition centre area, to changi naval base, then to pasir ris. its a total of 23 nautical miles. fyi, 1 nautical miles is 1.8km. (i think!) second day, went down pasir ris abit, then went back the whole route back to changi naval base, changi exhibition centre, then to east coast area! its 25 nautical miles. third day, travel from east coast to sembawang, to causeway point, back to sembawang. its probably 23-25 nautical miles. last day, travel from sembawang to punggol, then across to OBS camp! its about 7-10 nautical miles i think. not very sure. we travelled almost a whole round of Singapore and its definitely very demanding and tiring. especially the Changi Naval Base stretch. the raging seas and waves were against us and after paddling for like 30-45mins, you see the same thing beside you. in other words, you didnt move a single step forward, which is quite demoralizing. as arms were aching, body was being sun burnt, legs numb, everyone still persevere on and gave their best. this is when many of us really learn about Perseverance. mind over body, we did it as a whole batch, 51st batch OCT! :D

and on the final day of the 16 days course, we did a commitment run. its a 12km run around Pulau Ubin and its a personal run. means see your own timing and not run with your friends. i gave it all, and i came in with a timing of 65mins 39seconds. which i think was quite impressive because its the first time running such a long distance and i gave in my best. :)

alot of quotes that everyone shared during the 16 days that pushed us on, but this quote is the coolest one i find. Just like ships were meant to sail the high seas, we OCTs were meant for greatness.

to end off, there is this analogy about this Pencil having 4 properties that one of the OBS instructor shared to everyone of us. everyone is like a pencil. firstly, you have to Sharpen it. going thru pain and hardship to refine and find out more about yourself. secondly, its the Eraser. everyone makes mistakes. but whats e most important is learn from it, and erase it and not to dwell on it. third, its the Graphite. fyi, graphite is the lead that is inside the pencil. its the character inside us. the pencil on the outside is like us on the outside. no matter how nice the pencil is, its the lead that counts. not the decoration of the outside. we are like graphite. we need to be someone with values, beliefs and character that others will look up to. lastly, Leave a Mark. after you have written something on anywhere, even after you erase it, it leaves a mark. it doesnt goes off permanently. so whatever you do in your life today, are you leaving a mark in the lives of your friends around you? are you inspiring them as they know you more? or are you just passing day by day and letting opportunity pass you one after another?

think about it. i find it very interesting. :)

heyya man! its been quite some time since i last blogged. quite alot of happenings, but i think i shall just sum up e important ones. :)

first, happy lunar new year! its e year of tiger! roarrr! i believe new year have been a great time for quite a number of you people out there! visitation, eating, steam boats, mahjong, etc. mine was quite normal actually. this year didnt visit around much though. went for reunion dinner with some of my parents friend on new year eve and on new year itself, went to another mum's friend house. its quite good to hang out with them once in awhile, got to learn from them about life and also about what they are doing now. :)

went for charlie house to bai nian and guess what? saw ben goh and zeph there! then catch up with Zeph and learn alot from her after sharing much. thanks for e advice! :)

well, whats new in camp? heh actually quite alot happened. haha! we are now entitled to play/do RT in the evening. RT is something training. recreational or something. means can play any sports we want. for eg, badminton, basketball, soccer and volleyball. i'm back to playing basketball. had much fun and also realise that i have much to improve. hahah!

other than this, drill test is over. drill test is like giving commands to a squad and they will follow. can ask me for more info! :) took pledge as well. in front of like 1000+ people! (i think) i was very nervous! but thank God, i managed to clear it and did it well! General law exam in less than 48 hours! its on monday, which happens to be tomorrow actually. haha! still preparing! hope to score well! :) OBS is coming soon. not far. 1st March - 16th March. that will be the most xiong part of our training/course. so pray for me to go thru it smoothly and with much achievements! after OBS, can actually smell my POP. :D just a few more things after OBS, like PSOC, basic staff work and criminal procedure code exam, then passing out parade rehearsals!

looking forward to 11th May 2009! :D

anyways, something that set me thinking today as i was sms-ing a brother. 'you continue to run from your calling lo.' have been some time since i last heard something like that. was reminded of many things i did in the past in my ministry.

alright, back with a post! haha! some pictures to upload first! last sat, had some hta family day. not intended for us, but for staff from hta. and we needa go to show support. so oct3 went. had fun, enjoyed ourselves. here are some pictures.

yupp~ this week have been super busy with rehearsals on mon, wed and fri. tues and thurs was PT. and thurs had our Penal Code exam. Essay and MCQ. Essay was kinda easy because we know what to study, our SIR got give us tips! (: for mcq, its was tougher. because many people focus too much on essay that they didnt really have time to study for mcq. i was one of them. just managed to pass. 35/50. need 70% to pass. phew. but nonetheless, i think its a good chance for me to learn from here. when you are done with one part, go on with another. focused too much on essay. but Penal Code is over, up next is General Law which is scheduled on the 23th Feb if i'm not wrong. so jiayou everyone! (:

thurs was the worst day man! got punished in front of everyone in the afternoon, in the evening, got some kinda changing parade (means changing to different attire within a given time), punishment, bunk inspection, scoldings, and other not very good things. so a very bad day. needa rebuild our name again. can ask me for more information. cant share much here. (:

Yeaaah! finally got my silver for my IPPT in police force on Friday! ever since i came to police force, took 2 ippt. first one was pass only. cos i didnt do well for jump. but this time round, i managed to jump 234cm! my furthest i think. in tekong, got silver as well. but different la. cos in police side, using electronic de. so slightly harder.

anyway, life in hta has been good, going for lessons, pt and rest time! but 1 exam coming in like 12 days time. 28 Jan! Penal Code. gotta do well to honour God! :D after that, CP parade on 1st Feb. then CNY! CNY will be having a few days off! anybody's house open for me to go? hahah! =/ really hope to catch up with some of the TPians and some other friends out there as well! must start to set aside time and plan now! (: heh

went for BGR seminar today! it was really very good. the sharing and teaching was good because it teaches how to work out from being normal friends to going into exploration stage, and to courtship! thought it was from a female point of view, i think many pointers are still applicable for males! great seminar! :)

heyya peeps! :D back to blog about this happening week! (:

just the first week of 2010, and quite alot of happenings so far! i injured my left knee on wed morning after PT! and its not because of one PT that i injured myself. consecutive 3 days PT since monday night. so my left knee couldnt take it i suppose. thanks for those who asked about me, i am fine now. recovered, not fully though. first injury of the year. haha! but seriously, when i injured myself, the first thing that came to my mind was 'will i be OOC?' ooc stands for out of course. means out of my current officer course. because this is the first time i have knee injury and it seems quite serious to me because i couldnt walk properly, and i thought it will be there for quite some time.. but i still choose to trust God and prayed, and true enough, i recovered faster than my another friend, who suffered the same injury as me, but on the right knee. so credit really goes to God. thank you Father. (:

next up after that injury on friday, 080110, was my Senior Term Bar Presentation. something i look forward to ever since i don on the Junior Term Bar. haha! for those who dont know about this junior senior thing, its the rank of an officer cadet. for example, an officer cadet starts off his 9 months officer course with a bar (junior), after a few months of training, will be 2 bars (senior). then another few months of training, will get the actual rank. (: for more detailed, can talk to me on msn. cos quite hard to explain here. that Senior Term Bar Presentation was something special. it marks the last and final phase of my officer course. after we get our senior term bar, there was this achievement run. its just a run around the parade square. and though my knee still hurt abit, i completed it. (: hoho cool right!

after we get our Senior Term in the morning, we booked out at noon! to prepare for the event that we planned few months back. Social Night! :D and i tell you guys, it was a very very cool, fun and great event! its my honour to bring Xueting along! heh thanks Xueting for coming along! hope you enjoyed the food as well as the event! the video montage was super cooooool!! if i get it and have the chance, i'll show you guys! more pictures to upload after i get tagged on facebook. i forgot to bring my camera. =/ so gotta wait for friends to upload!

one week into 2010, it had been fun-filled! hoping for more of this kinda happenings!

first day of 2010! :D
alright, it has been a great week for me so far! let me talk about this week first before talking about 2009! this week was the second and last week of my attachment! attachment was seriously fun! because, you work 2 days and have 2 days off. although its tiring working 12hours shift, especially 7pm-7am, but the people are fun to be with. policeman are slackers too. =/ had my bball session with some of the tgh people and it was fun! bringing back memories on the bball court with them. :)

spent my new year eve at ECP GoldKist area. ns had a chalet and quentin went along with me. countdown to 2010. :) happy birthday to Kalyne and Kok Keong! nearly become snake instead of dragon. haha. eat snake ahh~ Sermeng knows what i am talking about! ahha! today went to 85 to eat with a few people! good time of fellowship and dinner. hope to have more of this! :D

alright, 2009 was a blast of both high and low. firstly, taking over the whole TP guys unit was a challenge and definitely, something that made me realise where i stand and how much i can do for God. :) i am very grateful to Nel! the one who taught me, guide me, most important, impart to me. thank you. :) miss the time in dmm. heh but really looking forward to a day whereby we can work together again! :)

next, transferring over to ns group and leaving everything i have had in TP behind. it was a tough choice. but it was for the better of everyone. :) thank God for helping me make this decision and helping me understand the rational behind this. if i were to go back in the later part of my life, i will definitely follow and go. continue to guide me, God. :)

next, moving into a new station of life. National Service. this thing is something that i dont look forward to, even at the start of my poly days. some of you might know. =/ but every guy have got to serve 2 years and my time had came. looking back, 6 months have past since i enlisted. 3 more cycles of 6 months, and i will be free from the Government. :) on 15th June 2009, i enlisted. and it wasnt long before i start to understand how difficult it is to serve when serving ns during bmt. haha! but it isnt an excuse not to serve. so after awhile when i adapt myself to ns life and am stable, i started to help my leader as i can.

not long later, another thing happened. change of shepherd. will not elaborate much on this, but i have had many not very nice experience with this thing. can ask me personally if you want to know more! :) its over le, i am fine and okay now! :D the news of changing of shepherd and changing of cg came together. was shocked, but kinda expected le. heh

bmt was a blast as well! i know many good brothers and went thru many things together with them. haha! people like Chung Kwan, Samuel, James, Jovey, Dai Seng and a few more. you guys rock man! :) after bmt, i was posted to Singapore Police Force. and i am still there. ahha! its fun here and its abit slack here la. gotta admit. =/ waiting for 11th May for my passing out parade! heh

not forgetting the outing with Sermeng, Lemmuel and some other brothers at some of the nights. dota, lan, l4d2, almost anything under the mooon! hope to catch up with you guys real soon!

YO PEEPS!! (: back to blog after awhile!

firstly, Merry Christmas! :D this Christmas, however, was different from the rest of the Christmas i spent for the past few years. i didnt manage to go to service because i was on attachment. for those who do not know, i am currently being attached to Geylang East NPC. then will be responding to case, doing road blocks and checks, and patrolling. will be on attachment until next week! :) one good thing about attachment is, i am able to rest more because the shifts are as such. first day will be shift 1, 7am-7pm. second day will be shift 2, 7pm-7am. then day 3 and 4 will be OFF!! heh so it gives me alot of time to rest la. but definitely, will be very tired because of the working hours and shifts. yest did my first shift 1, suppose to end at 7, but it ended at around 9.30. by the time my shift ended, i was already very tired. so couldnt make it for the overnight ecp event, and Eric's birthday celebration. shift 1 is tiring. working shift 2 later. so if you guys are around Geylang area, might see me in the patrol car. heh

like what i learnt from Jeremiah last time, not being able to go to service because of important reasons is okay, but whats most important is, are we growing in God? are we still eager to seek Him? personal walk with God? all those are more important factors. yeah? :)

had leave on wed and went out to celebrate Samuel's birthday with Xueting and Faith. its been quite some time we go out tog. we played lan first, then followed by movie. Avatar! its quite nice, but draggy. alot of talking. i was so tired that i fell asleep during the movie! some parts of the movie is boring. (when they start to talk alot!) but overall, quite nice. didnt regret watching it! went for dinner after that at Botak Jones! happy birthday Samuel Tan! :) hope you enjoyed this, simple yet sincere, celebration! :)

heyya people! back to blog after a long week! this weeek was quite fast! why? because was quite packed with events/activities. so time flies. (:

mon had range test. means shooting test. didnt do very well. that revolver's zeroing wasnt good. means i aim in the center, the rounds go to the right. not where i wanted it. then we can only see the target after 20 shots. so by the end of 20 shots, i only had 5 in. v lousy. :( but the remaining 30 shots, i had a rough idea where to shoot, i got 24 in. so was better, but because of the first 20 shots that i didnt manage to get a good score, i didnt get marksman. but anyway, its over. :) at least i did my best.

tues was like a morning off. because we went on a 'excursion' to Heritage Centre in the morning until lunch. its a place whereby it shows about the past about the police. so went there to explore and know more. :)

wed was ISBT, Integrated Scenario-Based Training. we help the senior officers. like we act out some scenes that is common on the ground, and they will be assessed on how they deal with the situation. quite fun. :)

thurs was PDT test. police defensive tactics. 2 parts over le. left 2 more parts. did well so far. no mistakes. :)

fri went for H1N1 jab in the noon. and after the jab, we booked out! at 4+. haha! was v early and that kinda sums up what happened in the weekdays! this week was very fast. :)

sat went for one of my mum's friend e son e wedding. its a blast! the food was good, the couple was superb too. :) although i dont really know him very well, but got talk to him before. he is a christian too. so may God continue to pour His love onto them and bless this marriage! :) took some pictures, but needa wait for that camera guy to email my dad the photos first! will upload again when i receive them!

heyya! back to blog after awhile! alright, start from something bad. i lost my handphone today. and i never imagine i will have this day because i always took care of my hp well until today. i alrighted from my friend's car and catch a bus, then the hp just fell off my bag because i didnt put it inside my bag! neglected and gone. kinda hard to swallow the fact, but still, i think since it has happened, might as well leave it behind. hope some kind soul will return it to the police station..

an event in camp, shooting! shooting a revolver isnt as easy as it seems. SAR21 is much much easier compared to this revolver. the recoil is much greater and its more difficult to aim because it doesnt have a scope. monday is the test frame and i need like 80% to get marksman! tough to get.

on the brighter side, some people are gonna POP next week! congrats to those people! chris, suquan, nehemiah, eric and many more! :) after next week's range test and Police Defence Tactics test, more lessons and lesser 'useless' activities. haha!

read about TIMES magazine and Rick Warren is in the list of '100 most influential people in the world'. wow, quite encouraged when i saw that! talks about his pastoral and how he want to help the society. thank God for such a strong leader! read on the book about leadership and learn much about leaving a legacy as well. will try to talk about it more in the next entry! gotta sleep now! tired! heh till then, God Bless! :D

alright, back to blog! but a short one because i need to study! been kinda busy lately because needa study for one of my paper which falls on the 26th of Nov, which is next Thursday. so pray for me! :)

APEC previous week and we had fun in HTA! we didnt get deployed to go to Suntec and see Obama but we got deployed in camp to help the re-service people do what they want us to do. like those logistics stuffs. sai kang la! haha! but thank God because got time to rest and do OTOT. (own time own training) on top of that, got some time to start revising on my exam topics! :)

looking forward to this coming friday. the TP-NS event! its gonna be a blast i believe! here is a picture of it! :)

had my first ever IPPT in HTA and was quite disappointed. didnt get silver. and for those who didnt catch my tweet, my score was as follow:
Sit Up:41, 5pts.
SBJ:216,2pts.
Pull Up:10, 4pts.
Shuttle Run:9.7s, 5pts.
2.4km:11.05mins, 3pts.
Result: Pass
as you all can see, my SBJ was super lousy. SBJ is standing board jump btw. in HTA, they use machine system and the SBJ machine was totally lousy and not very good. manually, i can jump 225+. but when it comes to machine, i still hit the mark of 225, but the machine show 216. so they take it as 216. and my running time became slower again. gotta train harder man.. ohh yeaa, my personal best was 10mins 41secs. still needa improve!

went out with Xueting, Peixin, Lemmuel, Samuel and Sermeng to celebrate my birthday. was a simple outing, but nevertheless, i enjoy the time spent with these people, who are still very close to me. and with much to talk about and catch up, the celebration was awesome! watched Cloudy with a Chance of Meatball 3D. was alright, quite interesting! yupp~ thanks for planning! :) should have more of this kinda outing!

today went to watch movie with Jovey and Chung Kwan at Bishan. Love Happens. 3 guys watch that love story. hah! but its quite nice! (: after the movie, Jovey drive us to Samuel's 21st Birthday celebration! and it was quite good and fun as well. catch up with them and talked alot. most importantly, we are still able to talk like normal and enjoy each other's presence!

hello!! (: feel like blogging today before i book in! my com crashed on friday. no idea why. :( so now i am using my bro's laptop to bloggg~

alright, first things first, yesterday service was a blast! it was really really great! i like the way P. Jasmine preached. the message was really clear to the believers, the backsliders and the non-believer. real life examples of Christians and how they handle it and go through it with God. strong testimony by Lemmuel and Joanne. thank God for the both of you for your willingness to share something that is close to you. a fantastic service indeed! for those who didnt manage to come, its okay. there is always another time, but make sure you can make it! :) 18 cross the line of faith accordingly to P. Jasmine's twitter! God really worked in Nexus yesterday! Praise God. :) Nel sang well too! i went up to her and tell her, she was like shocked. haha! but yeaa, i meant it! :)

had a mini pre birthday celebration yesterday after service with NSA. 5 person's birthday on Oct. haha! they are Nehemiah, Jun Jie, Han Hong, Vincent and Me! it was a mini celebration, but still enjoyed and appreciate it. :)

days in HTA was quite slack this 2 weeks. because our Coy Commander wasnt around as he was deployed for IGA, International General Assembly i think. something like that. haha! but nevertheless, training was still on but just that, more free time which i think is good because we are able to rest and do our own things. :) tomorrow will be our first IPPT in HTA. hope i will be able to maintain my silver because i havent been working out 'fiercely' after my BMT days. as long as my 4 stations can maintain a grade C and above, then okay le! ohh yeaaa, last friday we had a practice 2.4km run and my timing was 10mins 41secs. not very fast, but got improvement compared to last time. slowly but surely. :)

heyyo! :) i am backkk~~ :D

this week was quite slack in camp and i got quite alot of admin/free time in the middle/end of the day. as i was reading thru a leadership book, 21 most powerful minutes in a leader's day, the word influence came to me. there is one chapter on influence and it talks about how effective a leader is when he has bigger circle of influence.

influencing others is a choice. we must desire and be willing to do it, then God will do his part. many people experience ineffectiveness as leaders give up and never try to lead again. but if we look at the example of Joshua, he desired to become a better leader. he continued to be faithful to God. and the most important thing in him is, he never gives up. he perseveres.

today, what are you currently doing to increase your influence in where you are? be it in your workplace, your camp or your campus. are you doing things that will help increase your influence? it has to start some where as everyone knows becoming a leader takes time. it is not done overnight. as the saying goes;

leadership develops daily, not in a day.

something i want to thank God for! today while i was on the bus to service, i was on my psp~ (as usual) but to my horror, my UP button spoil!! normally spoil is cannot press eh? mine is UP all the way. means i cannot press down, left or right. then i was getting frustrated and quite sad, because this psp is quite precious to me. not because it help me to kill time, but it has been with me for almost 2 years and its a gift from my brother. then i decided to leave it aside. on my way back, i tried to on again to see if the 'situation' has improve. ohh yeaa, by the way, its not the first time. but normally, i shake and hit it a few times gently, then it will be back to working condition! but, disappointing effort. still spoilt. fixing it would cost me 65$. i asked in the noon! i reached home and tried working on it myself. unscrew this, unscrew that. touch this and that. and TADA!! its back to working condition!! okaaaay~~ :D :D was super happy man! thank God for helping me man. its e first time i do such a thing and its a super big risk because i know nothing about this kinda things. i dissemble the thing. haha! but its back to good condition now! thank God! :)

HTA is quite fun! being a Officer Cadet Trainee is not that bad either. although needa run alot, but the training is quite fun and i hope, it would be fulfilling. as in, help me to achieve a better result in my ippt and help me improve on my leadership and communication skills! something i learn here in my camp;

this is my posting!! hope its clear. :)

:D i think its something i really really want to thank God for. after going thru so much in bmt, i think it paid off. :) i dont know what kinda environment will be there for me, but like what i told God previously, i want to make an impact and influence the people in my camp no matter where He place me. i dont want to just pass ns and waste this 2 years. i want to make the best out of it. :)

today had UNIT meet. omg. it was superb. :) watch another video. this one is about Noah's Ark. its really really mind blowing. made me think thru alot about my walk with God and my r/s with God.

what does the story of Noah's Ark mean to you? another story that God show His power/promise? think about it. i will blog about what jeremiah explain in my next post. :)

ohh yeaa, Hong Kong trip was a blast! learnt alot of things and go to new places that i had never been to. thanks to my buddy, tour guide, Tai Chung Kwan. :D will upload more photos in facebook! its really really fun. maybe because not alot of people, but all v close. when we go over, we dont care about our cash man. haha! everyone want to pay for everyone. cool! thanks Chung Kwan, Jovey and Samuel. you guys made the trip superb and you guys rocks!

9th September 2009 marks the end of my 3 months of Basic Military Training! today is my POP day, which is also known as Pass Out Parade. means offically pass out from that piece of island, Tekong. i officially POP from BMTC SCHOOL 1, YANKEE COMPANY. Platoon 2, Section 2.

first, let me talk about today! woke up at 4+, to prepare then ate breakfast, then draw arms. then started marching at 6am. marched till 2pm. 24km. it was super tiring, but nevertheless, it really tested everyone's perseverence and teamwork. when someone is down or cannot go on, people will help them by lifting up their heavy fieldpack and push them forward. this is what everyone in the platoon hope to see. :)

at the end of the 24km, one of my Seargent who is going to ORD in 5 days time, 140909, said this thing that touched and inspired me personally. He is Seargent Suffri. one of the fun seargent and likes to play around with us, though at times he is fierce, he still do his best when he needs to train us. he said this, 'i am very proud of you guys, Platoon 2. you all completed your 24km Routh March without your PC and your PS, and none of you guys fall out. this is my best gift before i ORD.' for your info, my PC just got posted out to 2SIR a week before we POP, and our PS just got foot rot not long ago, and he is on status/leave, so wasnt walking with us today.

but i got to admit, i POP with JOY and v memorable memories with my Platoon, not to say my section. had alot of fun times with my section. even though sometimes we have misunderstandings or quarrels, but we still make it right at the end of the time and help each other thru the hardest time of our BMT. that include fieldcamp, trainings, punishment and route marches. i believe if w/o them, i wouldnt have been able to train myself well and complete the various route marches during the past 3 months. thank you Platoon 2, and most importantly, Platoon 2, Section 2. 2-2 Bravo!!

memories in BMT Yankee company is definitely deeply engraved in my heart and if i am able to go back one day, i will choose to go back to Yankee company. because we are ZAI!! :D fastest route march company, never lost a tug-of-war in Rocky Hill.

i want to congratulate all Yankee recruits, Koh Ser Meng from Quebec and Lim Yen Chuan from Zulu! and all the best for the upcoming enlisting recruits, they are namely Chris, Su Quan and Lik Choon who will be enlisting on this coming Friday, 110909. not forgetting Darren who is enlisting on Monday, 14090.

ohh yeaa, had OC evening this week on monday. it was very fun. OC evening is a time for recruits to show off their talents to their commanders to 'WOW' them. every platoon did a good job. platoon 3 dance from a song. this dance, this song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gE1PAmE5550 HAHA! quite funny, but nice. :) platoon 4 and 1 was acting about some common chao geng scenes and extreme examples on people who chao geng. funny too~ platoon 2 is the best. haha! got some nengjie style + 4 songs! ming wei, you sang well. :) same to guang wei and edwin. way to go, platoon 2! :)

weeee~ back to blog! (: its been a great and slack week in NS! think because gonna POP le, thats why more relaxing. haha! POP date is 9th Sept 2009, which is 09.09.09. heh nice date ehh!? throw hand grenade this week! it was really really cool! first time in my life, i throw a real hand grenade! its super cool and fun! yeaaah~ then walked 16km and everybody was tired after the walk. but it was a walk that train up our endurance and determination. its hard, even the commanders say so. but we endured thru it. :) one last key event before POP, 24km route march. its gonna be difficult again, but i believe i can do it together with my bunk mates! :)

went to eat japanese buffet with my section mates today. Ikoi Japanese Restaurant. at 401 Havelock Road. its good, really good. :) havent eat such good food for awhile. and i definitely enjoyed the time we spent talking and joking. Section 2 ZAI! :D

up next, i'm gonna blog about what God spoke to me when i was reading a book during my free time last week. the book is The Power to Change Your Life by Rick Warren. i promise i will blog it out, so here goes.

Trust God's Purpose
If we want to experience God's peace, we must trust God's purpose. Even when things dont make sense, we must trust God's purpose. Listen to what Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths" (NKJV) How many verbs do you see in these verses? There are 4 of them. The first one trust. It is followed by lean not, acknowledge, and direct. The first three verbs are used as commands: trust, lean not, and acknowledge. The fourth verb is used to express a promise. God says, "I will direct your paths."

Lets consider trust for a minute. Have you noticed that a lot of things in life dont make sense? And do you feel that a lot of things in life are beyond your control? What do you do in such situations? You trust! Thats really all you can do. "Lean not" says the same thing. Dont try to figure life out yourself. We do that all the time, dont we? We waste a lot of time and energy always trying to figure things out. God urges us to just trust Him.

Most people worry about two common problems: illness and death. We all face illness, and we all will die someday. How can I have peace when a loved ones is terminally ill? How should i respond when a friend dies unexpectedly? God tells me to trust Him, not try to figure out by myself.

I've had people tell me on more than a few occasions that when they finally stopped trying to figure out why God allowed something to happen and just started trusting Him, then the peace come. We need to face the fact that not all of our questions are going to be answered in this lifetime.

One of the lessons I'm learning slowly is that I dont have to unedrstand why or how or even when God does what He does; all i need to do is trust Him in order to experience His peace. As long as I'm struggling to figure things out, I'm not really trusting God and I probably wont have peace. We have to trust God with our lives and with the lives of our loved ones.

The write of Proverbs urges us to trust God and not depend on our own understanding. Then he reminds us to acknowledge God. Now, what does it mean to acknowledge God? It means to recognize and accept the fact that God is sovereignly in control of the universe, including the part of the universe you and I inhabit. We must acknowledge that God is in control and that He doesnt make mistakes. Someday I am going to preach a sermon on words or phrases we'll never hear God say. One of the words is Oops. God never has to say, "Opps." because he never makes a mistake. Everything that happens in your life fits into God's plan for you. He used every situation, even the problems and heartaches and difficulties you bring on yourself, to work out His purpose in your life. He fits everything perfectly into His plan and purpose for you. All God expects from you is that you trust Him without trying to figure it all out. Acknowledge that God is in control.

When you do this, you have His promises that He will "direct" your life or, as the NIV puts it, "He will make your paths straight" (Prov 3:6) Many of us, when we try to direct our own lives, follow haphazard paths filled with indecision, "Should i do this or that? Should i go here or go there?" Indecision produces stress. But when we trust in the Lord, He directs our paths, and He makes them straight, not stressful.

The Apostle Paul learned this lesson. He was at peace because He knew God was directing his life. Even when he was locked in a Roman Prison, he could write, "I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want" (Phil 4:12) Then he tells us the "secret" he has learned, "I can do everything through Him who gives me strength" (4:13) Notice that this was something Paul had to learn; it didnt come naturally to him any more than it does to us. He learned to trust the Lord and allow Him to direct his life - and he was content; he was at peace. The safest, most serene place to be is in the center of God's will.

One of my favourite scenes in the Bible is when Jesus and the disciples are in a fishing boat on the Sea of Galilee and a storm comes up. Do you remember the story? Its found in Luke 8:22-25 if you'd like to review the details. What fascinates me is that Jesus could sleep right through that raging storm. We know the storm was severe because of the disciples' reaction to it. Remember, a number of them were experienced fishermen; they had been through many storms before. But they didnt think they could make it through this one. In the midst of this storm and all the commotion on the boat, Jesus was sound asleep. How could He sleep? Because He knew something the disciples didnt know - He knew everything was under control. It didnt look like it was but with one word from Jesus, the storm subsided.

Peter learned something from that incident about getting a good night's sleep. Some years later, he was arrested by King Herod and put in prison to await execution. The night before Peter was to be killed, God sent an angel to rescue him. We read about it in Acts 12. Notice that the angel had to strike Peter on the side to wake him up (v7). Peter was sleeping like a baby! why? Because he was trusting the Lord who was directing his life. That's peace, real peace!

yuppp~ tension/stress is God's way of saying, "Get your focus in order, look at ME." previously, there was many things that was in my mind. many things that i needed someone to help me answer. with little time to spend with God in camp, limited time outside camp to fellowship with caregroup member and leader, and many doubts and questions started to filled up my mind. i didnt like it and i wasnt at my best. but just when i needed an antidote urgently, God gave it to me. God spoke to me. going through NS with God is really really a MUST because God speaks when He knows you need it. :) thank you Lord.

back from SIT TEST with around 45 mosquitoe bites! yeaa, you didnt see wrongly. its around 45. one leg 19. -___- the mosquitoes at that camp site is powerful. they can bite anywhere, and i mean anywhere! even on my feet which is covered 95% of the time, unless during powder bathe whereby we need to take out our boots and powder our feets as well to prevent foot root. ohh yeaa, and we wear our boots to sleep because its necessary! to prevent insect bites. so thumbs up for the mosquitoes. commando mosquitoes. but this post shouldnt be about them!

alright, this week was kinda tiring for me because first, we have 3 times SOC, and 2 times BCCT. these 2 training usually drain us e most. i completed my SOC + 600m rundown in 6mins+!! i passed! :) so no RT for me! (remedial training) BCCT (Basic Close Combat Training) came to an end on tues too. had our 'test' on tues. practicing all our close combat movements on some dummies and definitely, everyone passed. haha! cos cannot fail one. just do what they say, and you will be fine. :) even before our SIT TEST, which is mon-wed, we were all v drained and tired already. sometimes i wonder why they want to make us so tired before an important event.

SIT TEST was the xiong one. SIT TEST is Situational Test. its from Thurs-Sat. its a test whereby soldiers will be tested on their ability to lead people they dont really know when they are physically and mentally stretched. first on thurs, we marched 12km on thurs 1500 where we have a mate, the sun! but really want to thank God for something. the march actually was delayed to 1600+, and by that time, there was rain! and after that, not so sunny. we marched without a mate! thank God! if there was e sun shining brightly at that point of time, think many of the recruits might not be able to take it. cos the sun is really very very hot! but in between every 4km, there will be like 15mins of rest. but dont forget, we are carrying very heavy stuffs! its required. haha!

okay, so off the e key events during the whole march/test! after the first 4km, i was tired and breathless. hard to catch my breath. dont know why also. then when we started our next 4km, guess what? we saw a rainbow! cos as i mentioned earlier, it rained. but its not just a normal sight of a rainbow. its something like this.

YUPP! its a double rainbow! my first time seeing it in my life! too bad i cant carry a camera along with me, if not, i will have taken a shot of it! this is just an image from the net. but anyway, this is really something that pushed me on for the next 4km. i was tired, but at the same time, i remembered what a rainbow symbolised. and double rainbow, its really special. :) after this 4km, we rest at the company line and had our dinner, then march off like 30mins after our dinner. the last 4km was quite tough. cos it was very dark already as we were marching towards our outfield area. like a forest area. our sight was limited because there was no light, no moonlight or torchlight. but we managed to complete it. :) then built our basha in the dark, v hardd~

on thurs morning, marched 4km. then start of our missions. 6 missions/day. then during missions, each individual will be assessed on their potential leadership, ability to work under stressful environments and other factors. on fri morning, fast march 2km. both marched are v tiring. they want to march to make us tired first before starting missions. because, they want to see who are the ones who can think and lead in times of stress and fatigue.

but i think overall, i did quite well la. got peer evaluation by the other people from the same group, but not sure how did i score. haha! hope i score well man. :) sit test overall, was fun. but i think that the marches are quite redundant. haha! cos normally after the march, not v tired physically, but legs v suan only.

next week will be another week again! i will be throwing HAND GRENADE on Tues! :D first time siolz~ its quite dangerous cos if handle wrongly, it kills! but once in a lifetime opportunity and i'm feeling excited man! :)

missing out quite alot of services, caregroups, meetings, events. i want to know more! GC! next one, i hope to be there! :)

ohh yeaa, learnt something while i was reading a book in camp during my free time. spoke to me alot. shall blog it out maybe tmr or when i am free. :) cos i am feeling tired now, and i need some rest! :)

heyya fellow brothers and sisters!

this week was quite fun and not v tiring! first, had my final IPPT and i got silver! but for my results, i cannot find e result slip. so i dont really know how i fared. my friend told me i got a silver. :) and that sums up all the IPPT from start of bmt until now. :) 4 IPPTs. first, fail. second, pass, third and final, silver. improvement! :)

ohh yeaa! finally completed the whole SOC. standard obstacle course. 4mins+ complete everything. did jacob's ladder successfully for the first time! achievement siolz! for those who do not know what is SOC, it stands for Standard Obstacle Course. got 11 stations to complete and each stations only permit 2 tries. sounds tough ehh? haha!

up next, had GAC. Grenade Assault Cause. throw dummy grenade. quite fun. gonna throw e real one v soon! 25th August! excited man! gonna enjoy until then!

this coming saturday is combined service! but sad to say, i cant go. :( i am having my sit test on 20-22 Aug. thurs-sat. sit test is situational test. its a period of 3 days where they will make you tired, and give you missions to do, as a team. then from there, they will see who has leadership and who is more potential to go to OCS. officer course. :) so pray for me! i want to do well! most probably booking out sat night. so wouldnt be able to make it for sat combined service. :( but will be back the following sat! :D

thank God for e sermon today that Pastor Jasmine preached. i responded to e first catogory of believer that is wanting to be more commited and devoted to spending time with God, wanting to know more of the Word and want to study e bible more. really needa set aside time everyday.

for me in camp, its quite difficult to spend my qt because we rarely have long breaks in between the day. and breaks are usually like 15mins or something like that. then we needa change into another dress-code then fall-in. and cannot be late. at night, more admin time. but quite noisy and people will be walking around and talking. so normally will mix around and talk with them. but think needa set aside time to spend my qt. if not, my qt will be very limited and it wouldnt reflect well on my life.

so.. i want to wake up earlier to spend qt! its super difficult and i know i am not v discipline to do so, but by faith, i will do it. i shall do it. and i must do it. this walk is personal and no one can do it for me. i want a stronger r/s with God and i want to go for leadership camp during Sept! enough time wasted, time for some hard work and get back on track. :) if not now, when?

if any one of you out there is facing the same problem as me, lets overcome this together for we are overcomers! :) we shall not be ill-discipline people! i am confident i am able to do it together with God. YEAHH~

heyya! back from field camp and as promised, i will post on how is field camp! (:

firstly, to be trueful, field camp is indeed tiring and very challenging, especially mentally. physically wasnt that challenging. not because i am fitter or what la, but we didnt get alot of training there. is learning and applying learning skills and punishment, not much training actually. so not really physically challenged. it was dirty la, like what alot of people say. haha! not being able to sit on clean floor/grass, not able to bathe, not able to change clothes etc. you will definitely will be hoping 'i dont ever want that to happen to me!' if you are a female, well you are safe! but if you are a male, then face it. haha!

alright, a few first times as well! i saw fireflies! first time in my life. i dont know if its common out in the wild because i have never seen one. wanted to catch it in my hands, but that area too dark and i cannot even see my leg clearly. so you roughly know how dark it is.. then there is this tent call Basha Tent. for easy reference, this is a picture of it taken from http://www.ecamo.co.uk/images/web-tex-British-Army-Basha.jpg

its basically 2 ground sheets, 4 basha sticks and 6 tent pins. my buddy and i sleep in that thing for 2 days. although below us was a ground sheet, but the rocky ground and grass still made it difficult for both of us to sleep. and we needa guard our rifle well because our commanders will come around and try to stunt our rifle. (stunt = steal) those rifle kana stunt, will be confined because it shows that we didnt guard our weapons well and its quite serious in army. there is also this thing call Low Flare or Trip Flare. its basically a trap kinda thing, e moment enemy trip over it, it will go off. its a flame that can light up area around 300-500m diameter. i think la. but e diameter is really v huge and havent mention yet, its v nice!

next are the things that you really do not want to do. first, its my first time experience again. 6 days never bathe! this is the most sian thing and most dirty/disgusting thing that can happen to you. haha! 6 days no water bath, only powder bath. imagine you perspire the whole day, and sandy all over, heat rashes starting to come out, and you can only powder bath once a day. its digging a hole, big and deep enough for a soldier to prone in it w/o enemy or people seeing from the outside. its super tiring! because needa wear a vest which weights around 3-5kg, because got a few things attached to it la. helmet and rifle. super heavy la everything add together. digging shellscrape with that load is no simple task. i took 2 days and estimated 8 hours to complete mine with the help of my friendly neighbour NEO DE WEI. thank you!

one more joke from field camp! too funny man! there was this indian in my platoon called Sethu. and a SIR wanted to borrow camo from him. camo is the green/black cream that soldiers apply onto their face. ohh yeaaa, it was on my face too for the whole 6 days. no washing off cos no water. every few hours needa touch up. (like re-apply, make it tidy.) back to the story. then the commander borrow the cream. then after he apply, he sorta forget who he borrow from and this is how the conversation went..

Sir: Who's camo is this?
Sethu: Ohhh Sir, its mine.
Sir: Ohh okaay.

then he was like surprised suddenly.

Sir: Ohh you are the Sethu. No wonder you lend me the black camo la. you also dont need!
Sethu: (smiling and turning away)
Sir: Ehh just kidding la. Relax okayy.

HAHAHA! this incident was super funny. got everyone laughing. Poor Sethu..

one more incident that got me realized something! after digging shellscrape the first day, alot of people havent dig finish. then the commanders started to punish and scold us. its part of the Captain's plan to make us tireed and fatigue. then after everyone is tired, he ask us gather and suddenly ask us, 'think of your family right now. think of your loved ones right now.' then as i think, he continue his 'speech'. he say, they have taken care of you all this 20 years and you enjoyed your life so far, so now its time to pay back by interest by serving the nation. and he went on to say, they are the people that we are digging the shellscrape for. they are the people that we want to protect. then 80% of the people started tearing and crying, including me. i started to think of things as he continue saying, we have this mail system that we encourage parents to send in a letter at the start of your PTP and we keep it for you until now. how many of you havent receive a hand-written letter before in a long long time? nowadays, people communicate thru sms and email so easily, that they dont use hand-written mail anymore. now we are gonna give our the HAND-WRITTEN letters that your family had wrote to you. as he say, everyone started to cry more.. when i read the letter hand-written from my brother, mother and father, i was very touched.. its been a long time since i cried. haha! and its been a super long time since i received a hand-written letter from anyone. (not including encouragement cards) it made me realise the importance of my family and want to cherish them more.. thank God for letting me realise and know this simple truth. :)

to sum up, field camp was a place of learning, experience and fun for me. but definitely, there will be tough times. but like what i post in the previous few posts, tough times dont last, tough man do. yupp~ field camp is really great if you minus the bathing and shellscrape part. haha! thank God for speaking to me even in the midst of my field camp and down times. :)

its been a month since i last posted here! and it has been 7 weeks since i enlisted! time flies when you are enjoying or not counting it uhh? alright, let me first recap some of the blessings and happenings in the last 4 weeks~ (can check from my twitter! http://twitter.com/karchun08)

alright, first thing is i got my marksman! (: 16/16 for day shooting and 14/16 for the night shooting. that 2 was mistake and taken too quickly. should have take it slowly. then can get 32/32 and got a chance to become Company's Best Shot, which will be presented during POP! what a moment! but too bad, missed 2. :(

one of my sergeant said this: Pain is a sign that fear is living in e body.
quite true ehh when i think of it again and again. thats when i learn to persevere and hold on even in times of pain and hardship because pain and hardship doesnt last forever. (:

then there was e Longest Eclipse of The Century on 22th July 2009 since 11th July 1991! 6 minutes 53 seconds! it happened on e 22nd July 2009 if i didnt remembered wrongly.

had my IPPT on wednesday! Ippt results for 29th Aug! Sit up: 41, 5pts Sbj: 230, 3pts. Chin up: 8, 3pts. Shuttle run: 9.7secs, 5 points. 2.4km: 10.51mins, 4pts. Total pts: 20! Result: Silver!!
hope i am able to maintain this result until the next, which is also the last IPPT, which will also determine whether i go command school anot. heh for those who dont know whats command school, its basically another training ground for us to train to become SAF commanders. (Officiers or Sergeants)

enough of rewinding, back to today man! today was a great day! why? because i went service and the teaching today really spoke to me alot. i had to admit that i havent been v commited to my cg and often missed out fellowship with them because of my physical tiredness or fatigue. but i dont think this is what God want to see. back to the old question. what will Jesus do when He were in my shoes? i dont think He will, because of tiredness and fatigue, miss out fellowship and gathering with His disciples/close ones. satan had been playing games with my mind! but after today sermon, i believe God will respond to what i pray for and help me accordingly. (:

next week is field camp and its the biggest challenge for me in NS so far. for those who know me, i hate and dislike field camp to the MAX! field camp is going into the jungle and stay there (camp there) for 6 days! no bathing, only powder bath. will be super tired and super dirty. so gotta be prepared mentally. to be honest, i am not prepared yet. but i really want to go thru this together with God and really want to have the SHIOK time with God during field camp everyday! will be updating about field camp after my field camp. check back man! :D

ohh yeaa, back to today sermon. =/ Pastor Jasmine said a few things that actually spoke to me. Life station will change, but our Faith will not. very true. our life station changes as we age. from infant to children, to teenager, to adult and so on. but our faith will not change because it is not dependent on circumstances or any external things. another thing that spoke to me is, God will meet your need, not your greed.

some people out there, might be in church for some time and start to shift their priority from church to work or other worldly things, then say 'i want to shine for God in my work/camp/school' but ask yourself, are we shifting our focus and priority? only you yourself and God knows it. back to what the bible says in Matt 6:33. familiar verse to many out there. ³³But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

yupp! it reads, seek first God's kingdom and His righteousness, and all things will be given to us. God will provide and meet your needs, but never your greed. think about this today, are we giving more of ourselves to worldly things? or are we giving ourselves more to God?

Less of your own agenda, God will meet your needs. (: shall end here! God Bless all who are reading! :D

its e third week of NS! :D and so far, adapting quite well! from sleeping at 10pm, waking up at 5am, to doing warm up and cool down everytime before any exercise, drinking 500ml of water everytime before any exercise, and so on. yupp~ and i am still in PTP (physical training phase). for those who do not know what is PTP, it is a 4 weeks time period where males who didnt pass their napfa (at least a silver) are being train physically! to improve their physical basically!

for me, no exception! been training everyday. having blisters, sunburns, aches all over your body, etc is very normal! cos the training is quite intensive. but still, thank God for the joy He gave me when i am doing my PT! at times, i admit i complain and feel quite sian because keep doing the same thing and already v tired le, but cannot stop. gonna endure and persevere. but i am still glad la! got to know a few close friends already! :D thank God!

anyway, a few things i have learn in army so far!

29th May 2009 - the last retreat with the TP guys CL!!

went to airport to dine at Popeyes, chatted about life and other things, off to relax and monopoly! although the time spent wasnt very long, nevertheless, i appreciated and enjoyed every moment that we spent! really want to take this time to thank Lemmuel Ang Yong Xiang, Koh Ser Meng, Yeo Xi-Yang, Dennis Chua Peng Feng and Seah Xin Rui Nicholas! you guys are really a fun group of leaders to be around with!! can talk about almost everything and jokes never fail to cast a smile on my face. thanks, my team of mighty men! :D

30th May 2009 marks the last day that i am serving in the Temasek Polytechnic Ministry! I'm going over to the NS side now. Guys, one life to live, make it count in TP! (:

i just want to thank everyone that have been a part of my life in my 2 years+ in the TP ministry! Nel, Xueting, Peixin, Jen and Jenny, you people have been great leaders to hang out with and i definitely learnt much from all of you!! w/o any one of you, i guess i'll still be an infant and a self centered person. but God showed me love and grace thru you people!! many many millions of thanks!

EX-ENGIT2, you people are the first and the FUNNEST caregroup i have ever been to and want to be. everyone single one of you impacted me and i will always remember you people! memories are never meant to be forgotten.

TP GUYS!! fuuwhooo~ the first ever unit that i took care of. been thru ups and downs, but nevertheless, caregroups, service and fellowship with all the 3 groups will be something that i will miss. you guys helped me grow alot alot in my 6 months taking you guys! thank you people!

20th May 2009 marks the end of my 3 years of studies in Temasek Polytechnic! i have GRADUATED from TP Business Process & Systems Engineering! thank God for everything in this 3 years! without God, its difficult to weather thru the difficult times of my polytechnic studies. but with God, everything is possible and this is e result of what God had done in my life! :D

i'm really thankful for all the people i know in TP for these 3 years! K601, you people rocks man! from bertram, corren, alex, jack, melvin, kai xiang to the girls, sharon, joanne, diana, kunrong and more! you guys are wonderful people! thank God for all of you! :D

heyya peeps~ back to blog! (:

been picking up the habit of reading once again as i feel that it is necessary for greater and deeper growth in Christ. the book i am reading is The Power To Change Your Life - Rick Warren. if you look thru my post in e past few months (or last year. i'm not sure.) you will realise this book had been mentioned before earlier in my blog. but i stopped reading it at that point of time due to laziness and do not like to read. haha! anyway, i started to read this book again and it spoke to me immediately about love.

every relationship has got to commit themselves to Jesus Christ first. Rick Warren said this, i dont have much hope for marriages that aren't based on a commitment to Jesus Christ. the divorce statistics today has got all the evidenece you need.

The fact is, human love is not strong enough to weather the storms of our life. Human love dries up. but AGAPE, God's love, never gives up.

when i read thru that paragraph, i think it really speaks to me alot. not that i am getting married soon, but every relationship, even with your family or friends, Jesus Christ got to be in the center. if it isnt, you will realise that the relationship you have with anybody will not be right, because you are not right to begin with.

so really want to encourage everyone out there, really build your foundation in Christ strong if you want to have a right life and right partner in the future! it starts now, not later or tomorrow.

another thing i learnt is the choice to rejoice. Romans 5 states this clearly.

Peace and Joy
¹ Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, ² through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. ³Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; ⁴perseverance, character; and character, hope. ⁵ And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.

its been said that a person can live 40 days w/o food, 3 days w/o water, 8 minutes w/o air, but not 1 minute w/o hope. A reasearch in Cornell university conclude that a person can handle almost anything if he has hope. think more or less like the show Taken? :) i never watch la. but i heard that its something like that. a dad trying to save his daughter in spite of difficulties and danger.

back to this. We christians have a reason to be positive. we can rejoice because we rejoice in hope. Paul reminds us in Romans 12:12. "Be joyful in hope." this hope refers to our hope in Christ which is the first reason we can rejoice, even in difficult situations. we also know that God has a purpose in every situation. it builds and produces perseverance. perseverace produces character and character produces hope. :D

its your choice to rejoice in all circumstances! (:

havent been touching this for weeks! sorry peeps~

been busy with quite alot of things in the past few weeks. although i am not working now, but got activities and events. (:

Dota competition yesterday was FUN! although we didnt win the prize, but it was really fun playing with friends and seeing how others play! Team ABC - Dennis, karchun, corren, mark, fritz. well done!

been playing soccer with many people as well! thank God for darren and friends for always coming down and playing together! been a great pleasure to play together with you guys!

changes in ministry, but one thing remains. Love for God the heart to serve Him. no matter where we are serving in the church, no matter what role we are playing, we are all vessels that Christ can use thru! thank God for the opportunity to be able to serve together with so many people in TP! :D i will continue to soar higher and impact more!

whats more important in life than this? if there are other things that is the priority in your life, encourage you to speak up to your mentor and allow him/her to help you. because of all things, whats done only for Christ will last for eternity. others will all fade away.. let other things come into our lives naturally as we serve God not the other round. letting other things come first, then when we are happy, we serve God.

really, really, there is nothing more important that building our foundation in God and serving God. as we continue this journey/walk with God, lets work hard and persevere to the end and lets see ALL our love ones at the end of e race, that includes parents, friends and outsiders! :)

heyya, imma back! been quite busy lately with quite a number of things. from evax, to drama, shepherding, inviting. woo~ had a break yesterday from drama rehersal. but it wasnt really a rest day.

went to school at 8am to evax, lunch, then shep and cg. finally dinner. had fun with lem's cg. its been quite awhile since i went to cg and enjoying the closeness of a small group that really cares. :) its been a joy to serve alongside with them. :) thank God for every single one of you TPGUYS!

recently have been thinking about some things.. praying that God will come in and do something according to His plans. its been tough. but a verse that encourage me is Ephesians 5:20,

²⁰always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

yupp! it says here always. it doesnt depend on circumstances or good times to give thanks to God because it says here, ALWAYS. not base on circumstances or out of feelings. as we give thanks, remember how Christ died for us, the sufferings and mockings he went through. is ours much much lesser than his? its not easy to go thru tough times, but i believe at the end of it, God will definitely reward those who endured and had go thru it together with Him. :) lets not give up, but continue to serve our one and only, powerful God. He is our only audience in our life! :)

heyya people! back to blogg~ :) just had my church camp, Contemporary Generation, from 20-22nd March! i had a great time in camp fellowshipping, learning from workshops and getting refreshment from God. although the sleeping place wasnt that great, but camp isnt all about sleeping place, food and location isnt it? its about the content, event and the excitement! :) i felt sick on the last day of camp which is yesterday. had fever. 38.7degrees. lol~ but now i am fine! thank God for e healing and thank God for everyone who prayed for me. :) you are greatly appreciated!

camp was really fun! the games was really exciting and adventurous! :) the teaching really taught me alot on how to be a Contemporary Christian in this generation now and how to reach out to the different kinds of people out there. just like what Paul said 1 Corinthians 9.20;
'²⁰To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law.'
to win the people outside, we need to be able to relate to them in a non spiritual manner, but at the same time, introduce God to them slowly and thru out lives. :) also learnt quite alot from both of the morning devotions. about God's love and How to be a better shepherd/sheep. really a good camp! :)

as i was reading this book named The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership by John C. Maxwell, i learnt alot of things. maybe can share some~ :)

Leadership is all about INFLUENCE; nothing more, nothing less.

Becoming a leader is alot like investing successfully in the stock market. If your hope is to make a fortune in a day, you're not going to be successful. - something very true as i was reading. leadership is not a one-day thing.

If you continually invest in your leadership development, letting your 'assets' compound, the inevitable result is growth over time.

A discovery about the relationship between growth and leadership: "It is the capacity to develop and improve their skills that distinguishes leaders from their followers." Successful leaders are learners. And the learning process is ongoing, a result of self-discipline and perseverance. The goal each day must be to get a little better, to build on the previous day's progress.

heyya~ i am back~ :D

was busy entertaining quizzes, presentations and interview over the past 2 weeks. was very tired as well. finally, everything is over and i unofficially graduated from TP!! ohh yeaa, considered unofficially graduated because i have no exams for this semester! so please pray for me that i do well for my projects and quizzes!

yupp! had a mini class outing on thurs as it was the last day of school. went to town area with Alex, Jack, Melvin, Corren, Bertram and Christen. went to eat buffet at dont know where. opposite far east de. but i cant recall the name of the hotel. it was $28! 3.30pm-5.30pm. 2 hours and everyone was bloated! good food, environment and good company! walked around town after eating. then off to arcade in the evening and Acid Bar! :)

ohh yeaa, and yesterday was Valentine's Day! Happy Valentine's Day to all! for those who are single, treasure your singlehood, for those who are attached, stay cool k! (: time for some pictures upload!

HELLO EVERYONE!! happy belated Chinese New Year!!

i believe everyone is enjoying cny so far. i enjoyed mine! lots of food, fun, and of course, fellowship and gathering. :) a few highlights of the cny so far.

today had a workers training at 1130. hope this teaching not only taught the people how to SOW, but also help them understand the whole meaning behind it also learn new ways to do certain things. :) service was great! not just God spoke to me, but i am starting to get tuned in to the HS more and more! prayed for a few people after altar call, and i believe strongly that God is gonna do something radical in TP guys real real sooon! but it always starts from within us, isnt it? :) when one seed dies to itself, e group will grow much more and many more will be produced! ENGIT, lets anticipate more from God! we will be fruitful and increase in numbers! :D

We can choose how we respond to the circumstances of our lives. Amen?! The next paragraph is taken from the book i'm reading now, The Power To Change Your Life by Rick Warren, and it shows exactly what i said in the first sentence of this post.

Victor Frankl was one of the Jews put in the Nazi concentration camp at Dachau. He says that while he was in the camp, the guards stripped him of everything. They took his identity, his wife, his family, his clothes and even his wedding ring. But there was one thing that no one could take from him. He writes, "The last of human freedom is the ability to choose one's attitude in a given set of circumstances". The guards chould not take from Frankl his freedom to choose his attitude.

We cannot control circumstances because we do not know what will happen today and tomorrow. However, we can control how we respond to them. We can also control whether an experience make us a bitter person or a better person. What happens in life is not so much what happens to us, but what happens in us.

Romans 5:3-4,
3 Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope.

Paul says in the above verses that we can rejoice even in the midst of our trials and troubles. these things will produce perseverance in us and help us develop a mature character. so we can rejoice in our problems, and not just endure them. because, ultimately, we know that God is using them in our lives. yupp~

just like it is written in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18,
16 Be joyful always; 17 pray continually; 18 give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

be joyful always! it didnt say, 'be joyful when God is with you' or 'be joyful when you are experiencing good times', but it says 'Be joyful always'. Always means 1.every time; on every occasion; 2.all the time; continuously; uninterruptedly; 3.forever; 4.in any event; at any time; from dictionary.com. God knows we will face tough times, but He promised us He will be there for us and tough times are there to strengthen us not only on the outside, but in the inside as well! to make our character stronger and more Christ-like!

yooo~ back to blog! alright, gotta share about something goood i learnt from this book by Rick Warren titled 'The Power To Change Your Life'. given to me by Xueting on my birthday last year!

When the Holy Spirit controls your life, He will produce in you 9 positive characteristics: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

Let me ask you, how many, of the people you work with or live with exhibit these qualities? How many of the people you work with or live with would say these qualities describe you? The sad fact is rather than loving others, we are often unloving. Rather than living joyously, we feel defeated, depressed, and discouraged. Rather than experiencing peace, we feel uptight and pressured. Rather than being patient, we're frustrated and irritated. Instead of showing kindness, it's every man for himself. Instead of modeling goodness, we often feel there's nothing good about ourselves. Instead of being faithful, we neglect our commitments. We are more likely to respond to others in anger or resentment than in gentleness. And instead of practicing self-control, we watch our lives falling apart.

These are the contrast between the person who lets the power of God work in his life and the person who relies on his own power. We must remember, however, that the fruit of the Spirit isn't something we work up. It's something that God produces in us when we fully trust Him with our lives.

DONT PUT IT OFF!!
Only one thing will keep you from changing and becoming the person you and God want you to be. It's not the devil, other people or circumstances. It's procrastination! Many people say 'I'm aiming to change.' and that's actually good. but when are you going to pull the trigger?

Procrastination is fatal. One of these days, I'm going to go to the dentist. One of these days, I'm going to have the surgery I need. One of these days, I'm going to spend more time with the family.... get serious about being a Christian... being active in church... go after the dream. One of these days, I'm going to get in shape. One of these days! More often than not, that day never comes. True?

Remember the story of Moses and the Pharaoh? The plaque of the frogs. Pharaoh give in and wanted to get rid of the frogs, he summoned Moses. Pharaoh said "Alright, Moses, I give up." So Moses asked, " When do you want me to get rid of the frogs?" Now Pharaoh's answer was CLASSIC. He said, "Tommorrow." He must be crazy! why would anyone wait any longer to have the frogs removed? Why in the world would anyone put off a change that was going to be positive? We would expect the Pharaoh to say, "Get rid of the frogs right now!" but no, he said, "Tomorrow."

This story highlight something to us that we do all the time. We procrastinate by putting off changes that we know will be good for us. Why?

We do not need to be controlled by circumstances. No problem is too big for God. So what are you waiting for? Pray this, "Jesus Christ, take my life. Take the good, the bad, and the ugly. Take every part of me." Open up your life and let His power become a reality in YOUR life.

In-form Wigan striker Amr Zaki is to wait until the summer before deciding whether he will remain at the JJB Stadium.

Zaki has so far been one of the stars of the new Barclays Premier League campaign after joining Wigan on a season-long loan from El Zamalek.

The Egypt international striker made it six goals in eight matches with a well-taken penalty in Sunday's 2-1 home win over Manchester City.

Manager Steve Bruce recently revealed there is an agreement in place with El Zamalek for the Latics to sign Zaki permanently.

woohoo~ what a primary classmates outing we had! we had a great time today at Grapevine!! there was 7 people. jack, rafael, jouie, shawn, kenny, derrick and me. we ate and chat. then talk about what we do in poly, what we do now, what are the funny moments in primary school, lots more. great outing! :D really miss all of them. looking forward to e chalet coming up! no photos though. :( no one have a camera there!!

yoo~ back for some blogging~ one of the main things that happened over the past few days is, i finally finished my book!! every man, God's man. i must tell you guys out there, this is really really a great book! learnt alot about why do we guys react to things in certain ways and how do we actually deal with it using God's way. :)

something to share, taken from the book:
Courageous faith starts with an equally courageous perspective - a risky one, like the apostle Paul's, that lays it all on the line. (Philippians 3:7-9, NLT) The decision to be God's man is, we believe, a course that has no equal. It is the highest possible privilege and calling for every man. Practically, it is this commitment that helps us stand up to the fire, prevail over temptation, and eliminate the fear of others. Most profoundly, this commitment motivates us to live for an audience of one:

None of us are permitted to insist on our own way in these matters. It's God we are answerable to - all the way from life to death and everything in between - not each other. That's why Jesus lived and died and then lived again: so that he could be our Master across the entire range of life and death, and free us from the petty tyrannies of each other. (Romans 14:7-9, MSG)

So do you want to become God's man? If so, consider:

Are you willing to come clean and confess your sins to God and at least one other person?
Are you willing to serve your wife's family, even though you thought they were supposed to look after your interests first?
Are you willing to give God at least 15 minutes a day to talk with Him and read His Word?
Are you willing to protect your integrity with boundaries and limits?
Are you willing to start connecting with other men in authenic relationship?
Are you willing to take the narrow road, experience rejection, and even suffer - with no clear reward here on earth?

If you are willing, then God is able to make you His man. You cant do it without Him, and you cant do it without the help, encouragement, and accountability of others. God and other men can pull you out of your cocoon of superficiality and into the great adventure of faith, growth, and maturity. It is a rough ride, this thing called life, but its a ride that matters to God and makes a difference to those we love. Right now would be a great time to look anew or again at the man who gave His life for you and to dedicate yourself to becoming God's man.

just something to share from the book i'm reading, every man, God's man.

God's men are realistic and optimistic, taking the long view. So out of gratitude for what God has done in our lives, we endure. Out of devotion to Him and to our fellow travelers, we persist. Out of obedience, we hold on, Out of faith, we persevere.

Has life ever gotten so bad that all the energy that you have left was to cry out to God? but we still hold on and persevere because we know what we want to achieve at the end of this race. :)

when testings, difficulties, the unexpected revelations and losses drag on and on. Will we keep trusting? Will we falter? Will we keep living God's way? Will we let emotions win? Will we bail out? Will we keep fighting? Will we persevere? God's man is always at the crossroads. and this is how the signpost at the crossroads reads:

China to provide free Bibles to athletes, visitors during Olympic Games

BEIJING: China will provide free copies of the Bible during the Olympic Games to athletes, spectators, tourists and anyone else who wants one.

About 10,000 bilingual copies of the Bible will be distributed in the Olympic Village, which houses athletes and media, according to Monday's China Daily, quoting Li Chunnong, general manager of the Nanjing-based Amity Printing Co., the country's largest publisher of Christian works. Another 30,000 copies of the New Testament will also be available during the games, he said.

According to earlier Olympic practices, the Bibles will be available mainly through churches or the Olympic Village. None will be provided in public hotels. Places of worship for other religions will also be available at the Olympic Village, said Chen Guangyan, head of the Islamic Association of China.

Rev. Xu Xiaohong of the Shanghai-based China Christian Council in charge of publishing was quoted as saying 50,000 bilingual editions of the four Gospels were being shipped to the six cities hosting Olympic events.

The cover of the Gospels — the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, John — will sport an Olympics logo, he said.

"This is especially significant (because) as far as I know, this is the first time an Olympics logo will be used on a religious booklet," Xu was quoted as saying. "The Olympic spirit and the spirit of living a purpose-driven life that Christians believe in come together in the combination."

Last fall, China had to combat allegations of religious intolerance when false media reports surfaced that Bibles would be banned during the games.

Cont from Sat post. do we respond to God with pride? or Fear?

This response says, i hear clearly what You're saying, but i just dont believe You can meet my needs as well as i can. Like pride, fear causes us to reserve control of certain areas of our lives and keep them away from God's influence. The results can be disastrous.

When a man fears that he may lose something, because God is calling him to a new way, the best thing for him to do is to move against fear in faith. That way he sends a message to God, himself, and others that God knows better.

Or shall we respond to God in Faith?

This response simply acknowledges: Yes, Lord, You know better.

This response is about a man laying down his life in front of his Maker, giving up his attempt to fight God's plan for his life, and formally giving himself to the prevailing power to administer the plan for renewal and growth. This is the response of faith in God's person, His plan, and His process. This form of unconditional surrender says, God, You know better.

The reason so many men are unfulfilled in their relationships with God is that they will not give up their ways.

This is how a relationship with God begins initially, and it is the way a relationshuip with God is maintained continually, by faith. Practically, it means God's man must simply take God at His Word and leave the results to Him, based on who He is and what He did to earn our trust in Christ. This kind of faith is modeled in the bible through Abraham. (Romans 4:16,20-22 NLT. do take a look.)

today are we responding to God in faith? or fear and pride?

one last thing before i end this post, how much would we risk for Jesus?

We all should identify areas of change, get God's direction and plan, and pursue those changes before God and man. (: this is more like responding to God in faith which will result in great outcome. (:

i was reading every man, God's man. when i come across this little passage or 'teaching' that really make sense to me.

The choice we must all make: His way or my way.

some of us simply do not ask God, "How do You want me to handle this?" or inquire, "What does God's Word call me to do in this situation?" The reasons for not asking these questions are simple ignorance or blantant arrogance. Neither befits God's man, and both carry high price tags.

instead of going to God and asking him how to handle things, many times, we want to make our own decision and we tell God "alright God, thanks, but i'll take it from here." right? cos we think that we know better than God. Pride.

just some things for you people to think about ba. how many of us are responding to God with pride? do we always want to take the pilot seat? or do we want to let go and let God? think about this. if we are always making our own decision, how do you think God will use you? how do want to be a vessel of Christ? think about it chewren. alright, just a sum up of what happened last week, mon attachment at vivo till 5+. dmm at 6. after dmm, the dmm team (xt, px, lem and me) went to chomp chomp to eat with samuel and linda. had a great time! (:

tues attachment at jurong east, night time meet up with my group to pray. (: was refreshed and everyone was ready to put in their all for the ESS! (:

wed-fri had drama rehearsal at night. was v tired! but was v fruitful and it was a breakthrough for me! cos my acting is not v good. but i like what Nehemiah said 'When God ask you to do something, He will confirm give you the necessary skills you need.' true enough, it is done through God. :D drama was great!

wed was jasper birthday too! happy 28th birthday uncle jasper! :D

sun morning sent mark off to thai for competition. after which, do evaluation with nich and sm then went to parkway to meet up with the dmm team!! went roller blading with them! :D pictures upload some other time, cos i havent got it.

last weeek was v v fruitful! :) my cg people learn how to lead the group w/o me around, i learn how to have a good spirit when doing things and breakthrough! i want more breakthrough!! :D

attachment is killing me. tiring myself and getting nothing out of it.

selling CYL2 was really fun!! went back to school to share the event. went from ITAS to ENG, every classroom, every lab, every lecture, every place we could find to share the event. its fun, fun and fun. like carolling. starting might feeel abit scared or hesitation, but when i share the first time, it wasnt that scary afterall, it was fun. :D afterall, it's not about me, but its about the Big Man above.

sooo thank God for everyone who went around selling the event together with me! thank God for your courage and willingness.

'what will Jesus do when He's in your shoes/position?'

brothers and sisters, when we talk to anyone, argue, respond to anything, or think of any thoughts, how many times do we ask ourselves that question first? i failed to do so many times. but still, God is gracious to guide me through e circumstances and continually forgiving me for my wrongdoings.

one verse for you people!! :) Hebrews 12:6a because the Lord disciplines those he loves.

4 days of evaxing. wake up at 6.40am. reached school at around 7.45am. then evax till 9+. then breakfast with everyone who turned up. then rest until 4+. then 5 do again till atround 7. lols from tues to fri. almost everyday doing that. fri went for morning only. then after that, went for meeeting. SIP one. then went to alpha conference in the evening.

sat 8.30am alpha conference start again. then packed till 11+. happy birthday joycelyn and lestari!! :D God Bless in your ministries and your walk with God. :D this week was super drained. and i seriously need some rest.

Planetshakers concert was great!! great time worshipping and praising God!! :) we actually only have 1 ticket. but we got 7 people. lem, sermeng, ced, shawn, dar, dan and i. but 1 tix cannot go in ma. then we wait at the non-ticket holders area. we were first by the way, thanks to engit4. 6.30pm, all the ticket holders went in first. at around 7.15pm, there was one person who had 6 extra tickets!! he gave us and we ran in immediately!! thank God for that early entry. cos already not much space left. and we had a hard time finding 7 seats together. but still, somehow or another, God gave again. :) and everyone who went, enjoyed the concert!! :D yea i want more of God's blessing!!

service yesterday was great. talking about family and community. we are all a family. part of God's family. grateful that i had a big and caring family. people, appreaciate one another.

later playing against venture 14. have fun man!! :)

anyway, havent been .aing with glen for some time. miss those times playing together and owning together. owning you also. =/ now you're working, and i'm busy. but still, we love each other okay!! right SG?! :D guten tagg bro!! a tribute to you okay?!

alright, yesterday was fun! went out with my secondary school friends and it has been ages since i went out with them. =/ there was yg, yc, eric, john, suey, yf, sp and jh. meet up le, at first nothing to do, then went window shopping with them. them = sp, jh, yc and yg. shop for quite long before everyone reached.

then went to CP eat some korean res. the set meal for 8 was like $249++, then order this and that, add up all is $324.40. its like e most expensive meal i ever had. its quite nice but not filling, and the food can all be eaten at the korean bbq area. so kinda like scammed. lols each person $36.

after eating, all went back. then yc, eric and i went to cine walk around first before going back. and it was great fun hanging out with sec school mates. :) you people rocks!!

anyway, ftt is one month away. soooo fast. i changed the date to eaaarly.

i'm back into reading every man God's man. this book is really good. but i dont have the habit o reading. =/ but expect something different from me this time!! :D i'm off to lunch with faith!!
